Hello CSCA families,

Our Valentine Party will be on Friday, February 14th.  Please have your student decorate their box/bag for collecting valentines at home.  Students can decorate shoe boxes, tissue boxes, paper bags, etc.  Decorate one to bring to school on February 14th and it will go home with them the same day filled with nice notes from their friends.  Students may bring valentines on Friday, February 14th to pass out during the party (18 students).  If you have any questions, please email me!

Please remember that students should be bringing their water bottle and a snack every day!  If you need assistance with snacks, please let me know, so I can make sure there are always some readily available.  Also, yellow folders need to be brought back to school daily.  Red folders will go home on Fridays filled with work, homework and/or important information from the school.  Please make sure you are reviewing red folders with your student and returning the empty red folder on the next school day.

Lastly, our class (those that gave permission) will be on FOX21 saying the Pledge of Allegiance this month!

There is NO SCHOOL Monday, February 17th for President’s Day!

Some papers/activities you will see coming home in their red folders:

Reading and Writing:  We are really trying to focus on “staying in the lines” for ALL writing.  Some papers (reading, spelling, writing, etc.) may start coming home as homework and/or work to be “fixed” because of this.  We are emphasizing that the students need to take their time and be proud of their writing.

Please remember to go over ALL corrected work going home.  Corrected mistakes, which are returned to school, may help a student’s grade and like I tell the class…” The more you do it, the better you get at it!”

Math:  We will begin learning about nickels and counting by 5’s.  We also will be introduced to a new math manipulative…Tangrams!

Science:  We begin learning all about Plants!

S.S./History:  We continue learning about the 7 continents.

Poetry:  The poem to memorize this month is “Roses are Red”!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please come see me or email me!

Thank you for all you do!
